Ride the Car Baby!

I finally got out for my first ride on the Prince Creek Trail System a couple weeks ago and it was...glorious! I couldn't believe it was totally dry, dusty in places in fact, and very busy. Word to the wise, don't go after work...the parking lot is madness! After 20 minutes navigating riders on single track, I was finally on my own. Listening to some classic rock, grinding away on my bike, and enjoying some much needed "me time," I finally felt at peace. To say I had been cranky the last few days would be an understatement. Sometimes caring for our kids can be totally overwhelming. Don't get me wrong, they are the best kids on Earth, but sometimes it's just a lot.

Riding up the trail I passed the infamous "Monte Carlo." I wondered to myself whether I'd have the guts to ride it on my way back down. I always get psyched out "riding the car" the first time of the season...especially when I'm riding by myself. Before I knew it, I was headed back down the trail, rushing to get back home to tuck my little guys into bed. Still thinking about the car, I came around the corner and there it was. Then...before realizing it, I was headed up, over, and down the car. Not only did I "ride the car," but I rode it fast, and better than I ever had. Zooming around the next corner, I couldn't help but smile and started thinking about how I could ride over it better the next time.

I made it home just in time to kiss and snuggle my kids with renewed positivity. I love my family more than anything, but my husband and I both know that we're better parents when we take a moment to care of ourselves.

Check out the "RIDE THE CAR" socks. I created these socks to inspire each of you. Find your mountain to climb, or wave to surf, or car to ride.

Stay happy. Stay healthy. Find something that renews your positivity and makes you a better person to those around you.
